The Short Sight The Tall Sight Front Sight

Front sights which shoot well with the Columbia Precision the Tang Peep Sight.

Shooters who use tang sights often ask what kind of front sight I suggest. Over the years, I have come to prefer what used to be called the Lyman-Beeches Combination front sight. It is a flip up sight with a regular blade in one position, and a globe with blade in the other position. It is not as fancy as a globe sight with inserts, and possibly a spirit level, which might be more appropriate in combination with a Vernier type rear sight, but presents a very nice sighting picture with the tang sights such as those Columbia manufactures.

          These front sights are now commonly just called the Beeches Combination front sight. I have used two specific sights currently manufactured. as well as several collector type Lyman sights. Following are the manufacturers or sources I would recommend:

Note: The standard size dovetail for Winchester and a number of other manufacturers is 3/8”. Sharps and still other manufacturers have different size dovetails. Be sure you know the size you want when ordering.
